Are you having a Fatal Error: maximum execution time of 30 seconds or similar when using WordPress? This error means that PHP scripts need more execution time than the limit it is using, so it is stopped. This tutorial will help you fix errors on the website.
What do you need?
Before starting this tutorial you need to prepare:
- Access to WordPress Administrator area
Method 1 - Install WP Maximum Execution Time Exceeded plugin
WordPress has a huge user community so you will be able to find the plugin that suits your needs. In this case, increase max_execution_time - so you can install the WP Maximum Execution Time Exceeded plugin to fix the error. If you do not know how to install plugins, you can check out this article to install plugins in WordPress.
This plugin modifies the .htaccess file to increase the maximum execution time. Once you've installed this plugin, you don't need to do anything, everything has been processed by the plugin. There is no set page for the plugin so if you don't want the plugin to change .htaccess, just delete this plugin, .htaccess will return as it was before installing the plugin.
Method 2 - Fix the .htaccess file manually
If you already have many plugins and don't want to install additional plugins, you can manually edit the .htaccess file to fix the maximum execution time of over 30 seconds (or similar). The easiest way is to use File Manager in the hosting control panel. If you are not sure where the location file
.htaccessis, please refer to the detailed tutorial here . You will need to enter the following code below the .htaccess file and Save :
php_value max_execution_time 60
It will increase execution time to 60 seconds (1 minute). If you still have errors, you can increase this value further - 120 or 180 seconds.
Method 3 - Change the max_execution_time value in cPanel
If you are using cPanel you can increase max_execution_time directly in cPanel. Go to the Select PHP Version section .
Now go to the Switch To PHP Options link .
Increase the default value you see in the line max_execution_time . Usually, it is set to 30 seconds by default, so you can increase it to 60 seconds. Click the Apply button to save the changes.
That's it, now you won't see the maximum execution time of 30 seconds beyond.
Following this tutorial, you already know 3 ways to increase max_execution_time to handle the maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded . If you are using a shared hosting package and there is no solution for this, you should find a hosting provider to review the actual execution time value and how much this limit can be increased.Read more :
